Stronger Health Stronger Students

At SJCC, the health and well-being of our students are our highest priorities. We believe that true learning flourishes in an environment where students feel supported—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Our programs and campus initiatives are designed to promote a balanced lifestyle, encourage healthy habits, and provide access to the resources students need to thrive. From wellness workshops and counseling services to fitness opportunities and nutritious dining options, we strive to nurture the whole student. Because when our students are healthy, they are empowered to learn, grow, and achieve their full potential.

Problem

At San José City College, student health is our top priority. Our Student Health Services team provides essential care, including mental health counseling, flu shots, adult immunizations, and other wellness resources to help students stay healthy and focused on their education.

However, the center is currently facing funding challenges that affect its ability to maintain full hours, stock medical supplies, and continue offering free or low-cost services. With increasing student demand and limited resources, additional financial support is vital to keeping our healthcare services strong and accessible for everyone.

Your support helps protect and sustain the programs that keep our campus community healthy and thriving.

Solution

To keep Student Health Services strong and accessible, San José City College is proposing a small $6 increase in the student health fee. This modest change will make a big difference, helping ensure that essential services like mental health counseling, flu shots, immunizations, and medical supplies remain available to all students.

The additional funding will allow the health center to maintain full operating hours, provide more consistent access to care, and expand wellness resources that support both physical and mental well-being. By investing in this small increase, we’re investing in a healthier, stronger campus community, because student success starts with student health.

Benefits

At San José City College, we believe every student deserves access to quality healthcare—because wellness is the foundation of success. Our health center has been a vital source of support, offering counseling, flu shots, vaccines, and compassionate care to students in need. But with limited funding and growing demand, we’re struggling to keep up.

A small $6 increase in the student health fee can make a big difference. It means more counseling hours, better medical supplies, and continued access to free and low-cost services that students depend on. By supporting this change, we’re not just funding healthcare—we’re investing in each other, in our community, and in a future where every student can feel safe, supported, and well.
