CA Proposition 15
Estimated $1.2 million in benefit to SJECCD if passed
Prop 15 modifies Prop 13, an outdated property tax prop from 1978
Restricted jumps in property tax increases
Introduced because of large corporations taking advantage of low property taxes
Businesses are being sold in a way that intentionally avoids taxes
Prop 15 only increases property taxes for commercial and industrial business properties for businesses valued at over $3 million
Reassessments will occur every 3 years if passed
Estimated to create 20,000 new jobs
Measure G-2010/Measure X Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC)
CBOC used to ensure that bond funds are spent the way they were intended to be spent by taxpayers
Need 1 student active in any “community college support group” at either SJCC or EVC
Current CBOC meets quarterly, date/time and frequency of meetings up to committee
ASGSJCC will help recruitment efforts by boosting info about opportunity to students
HSI grant (Hispanic Serving Institution) renewed
Using on existing Ganas project through 2025
Program designed to provide culturally responsive STEM pathways for Latinx/Chicanx students
Supporting AB 2416
Will eliminate “satisfactory academic progress” to get financial aid if passed
Old business:
