Volunteering opportunities
As part of our commitment to student development, we encourage all students to take part in volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Volunteer sign-ups are typically posted two weeks in advance to help us plan effectively.
In addition to our major events, we offer a variety of other volunteer opportunities where you can contribute, gain experience, and connect with the campus community. Stay updated with us for the latest announcements and sign-up links!
Article 8 Volunteer Program
Sec 8.1 Eligibility
Sec 8.1.1 - All currently enrolled students at San Jose City College are eligible to participate in
the ASG Volunteer Program.
Sec 8.1.2 - All volunteers must follow college policies, ASG Standards of Conduct, and event
guidelines at all times.
Sec 8.2 Participation Requirements
Sec 8.2.1 - Volunteer hours may be earned through participation in ASG-sponsored events, Club
events, programs, and approved campus initiatives.
Sec 8.2.2 - Volunteers must log in and log out through the official ASG tracking system under
the supervision of the Director of Student Communication.
Sec 8.2.3 - All volunteer records must be verified and approved by the Director of Student
Communication.
Sec 8.2.4 - The minimum volunteer duration per activity shall be one (1) hour.
Sec 8.3 Carryover and Hour Limits
Sec 8.3.1 - If a student does not complete their intended volunteer hours within a semester, they
may continue accumulating hours in the following semester.
Sec 8.3.2 - Volunteer hours from a previous semester shall remain valid.
Sec 8.3.3 - A maximum of twenty (20) volunteer hours may be carried and retained within one
academic year.
Sec 8.3.4 - A minimum of twenty (20) verified volunteer hours must be completed within the
academic year in order to receive recognition and certification as described in Sec 8.4.
Sec 8.4 Recognition and Certification
Sec 8.4.1 - Volunteer hours shall be reviewed and recognized at the end of each Fall and Spring
semester.
Sec 8.4.2 - At the conclusion of each Fall or Spring semester, eligible volunteers shall receive an
ASG appreciation gift and a Certificate of Recognition from the Associated Student Government.
Sec 8.4.3 - A service letter may be issued upon request.
