Nico Lopez-Garcia is the Director of Student Resources for the Associated Student Government at San Jose City College. Their role’s primary focus is to oversee the equity and efficiency of campus resources, to maintain the relationship between the Deans and ASG, and ensure the accessibility and inclusivity of all campus matters. They are pursuing a major in Chemistry, with plans to enter the cosmetic industry under cosmetic chemistry and formulations.
Nico also serves as the Senator of the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics & Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) Club and the Secretary of Advocacy Leadership for Immigrant Access Support Services (ALMASS), along with being an active member in LUZ de Aztlán, Women in Stem, and the Burmese Student Association (Bursa).
When not working with their Student Clubs or ASG, Nico works as a Student Assistant for Student Development & Activities. Their job consists of planning student-centered social events, assisting with campus-wide events and student matters, and collaborating with the Outreach Office. As an officer, they strive to provide a campus with resources befitting all students, and empowering those of special populations. As a student, they aim to fraternize with their fellow students, make them aware of their resources and social events, and provide a helpful and dependent presence on campus.
